Minecraft Nether Coordinate Calculator
Convert Overworld coordinates to the Nether and back at the 8:1 ratio - live, both directions. Type into either side and the other updates, so you can build linked portals that connect exactly where you want. Runs in your browser.

How Nether portal linking works
The Nether is compressed 8:1 horizontally: one block there covers eight Overworld blocks. To make two portals link reliably:
- Build and light your first portal, and note its coordinates (press F3 on Java, or check the map/coords on Bedrock).
- If it is in the Overworld, divide X and Z by 8 to get the Nether target. If it is in the Nether, multiply X and Z by 8 to get the Overworld target. Y stays the same.
- Travel to that target and build a second portal within a few blocks of it. Lighting a portal at the calculated spot stops the game from linking to a far-away portal or generating a stray one.
Tip: the Nether roof is at Y=128, so a very high Overworld portal can map above the playable Nether - drop the Y a bit when that happens. Planning a big linked network or a Nether highway is a classic server project; the tool is free and the math is the same on Java and Bedrock.
